In 1992, the merger of San Juan and Laventille marked the birth of the entity as we recognize it today. Its expanded boundaries now stretch from Maracas on the western edge of the North Coast to La Filette in the northeast. To the south, it encompasses areas such as Sea Lots and Beetham Gardens in the southwest, extending to the Caroni River in the south, and further to the Solomon Hochoy Highway, which forms the boundary for Mount Hope in the southeast.
