The Region of Abundant Agriculture, Clear Rivers, Pristine Beaches, and Rich Oil Reserves, Mayaro/Rio Claro is home to a population exceeding 36,000, spread across an area of approximately 852.81 km², making it the second-largest among the fourteen municipalities in Trinidad. Situated in the southeast of the island, it shares borders with the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, Princes Town Regional Corporation, and Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation. The municipality comprises three administrative districts: Poole, Mayaro, and Biche, further subdivided into seven electoral districts: Biche/Charuma, Cocal / Mafeking, Ecclesville, Mayaro North, Mayaro South/Guayaguayare, Rio Claro South/Catshill, and Rio Claro North.
